Introducing Our New CRRC Coordinator: Czarina Garcia

CRRC is pleased to introduce our new Coordinator, Czarina Garcia (she/her). Czarina will be overseeing all daily operations of CRRC and maintaining positive relationships with community stakeholders and political leaders to promote increased community understanding of racial intolerance and racial disadvantage arising from the institutional and systemic nature of racism.

The Community Race Relations Committee of Peterborough is pleased to share a recording of Peterborough's launch event for Black History Month 2021. The launch can be viewed here.

It includes traditional African drumming and dance, a proclamation by Mayor Therrien, statements of support by dignitaries, and two prominent guest speakers — historian Rosemary Sadlier (who played a leading role in establishing Black History Month at all levels of gevernment) and Nicole Bonnie, the first Black CEO of the Ontario Association of Children's Aid Societies.
