When Canada Targeted Indigenous Children & Their Mothers, Lynn Stood Up!

When Canada Targeted Indigenous Children & Their Mothers, Lynn Stood Up!

The Peterborough Famous Six Committee are planning an event that honours the work of Algonquin Anishinaabe-kwe Dr. Lynn Ghel. This gathering is to honour Lynn and her 32 years of hard work to protect Indigenous Mothers and Children from Canada’s sexist discrimination in the Indian Act. Lynn will talk about the current Liberal government’s refusal to address all the sex discrimination in the Indian Act despite the rhetoric of nation to nation and reconciliation. There is the need for all women to support Lynn by providing a space where she can express what she knows. This is what legitimate feminism and social justice action does. We will ask Lynn to share with us her experience of being honoured as an Indigenous Famous Six where the parliament of Canada honoured her along with Senator Lillian Dyck, Senator Sandra Lovelace Nicholas, Yvonne Bedard, Jeannette Corbiere-Lavell, and Sharon McIvor. http://www.windspeaker.com/news/windspeaker-news/famous-six-to-be-celebrated-for-work-on-61a-all-the-way
